Scottish painter John Bellany's work speaks to me on a very fundamental level. It seems surreal. The above painting is a portrait of a woman with a fish on her head. Some what reminiscent of a Dali. The use of colour is fantastic. A pallet that is a feast for the eyes. Although far from photo-realistic there is level of realism that is self contained on the canvas. As with the work of Ken Kiff, my my interest is in the colour scheme of Bellany. His subject matter is similar to my own.
