in the above photograph you can see that i have started to add colour to the composition. i have gone for muted tones for the wall, doors and ceiling. As a work in progress you can see that i have used thin acrylic paint . The smokey colours of the yellow ceiling and side walls, and the blue grey of the wall around the fire place, will be used to contrast against the vibrant colours that i have planned for the figures and the still life elements in the composition. The fish against the ceiling will be almost neon colours . For the seated figureI have planned to use baconesque fleshy effects and violent colour combinations. On the right the man entering through the door will possibly be a more shadowy sinister figure. If every thing goes to plan then i should have the painting finished next year in time to be included in my blurb book.

The two photographs above are studies that i have made as compositional sketches for the painting "Dream scene". Taken from life they are realist sketches where the dimensions more accurately describe my front room where the dream scene painting takes place. They differ from the painting because the painting is taken from memory like things are in dreams. As sketches go they are ok as visual references.
