Dali was a master of the surreal.Most of his paintings came from what he termed as his "paranoid critical method". many of his images played with duality, like the painting swans into elephants (see above).

Dalis technical skills are remanisant of renaissance artists.This gives Dalis work a timeless quality. His best known work "the persistence of memory" featuring the famous melting or soft watches, looks at the passage of time and how we perceive it.time is ridged if we are for example watching a clock. or may pass softly or fluidly if we are not actually thinking about it. i.e "time flies when we are having fun."

The question I ask is, was Dali a genius or a great self publicist tuned into the artistic tastes of the time?
