Francis bacon(1909-1992).

Bacon was a British painter who painter figurative triptychs and raw visceral portraits in his own style.

his work can be seen as surreal such as " Three figures for the base of a crucifixion". he was turned down from a major surrealist exhibition on the grounds that his paintings were "insufficiently surreal".

I really like Bacons palette of raw, bright almost violent colours. The freedom with which he paints the human form also appeals to me.
